Karla Paulina Arriaga
Profile
Karla was born in Mexico City and grew up in Pomona, California. As the first person in her family to attend college, she first enrolled at Citrus Community College where she fell in love with cell and molecular biology. She then transferred to California State University, Fullerton where she obtained a B.S. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. As a professional in both science and educational programming, Karla worked as a STEM-Grant Coordinator at a local community college, sparking her passion for working with underrepresented students and encouraging them to pursue higher education in STEM. Prior to Caltech, Karla also held admissions positions at UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis. Most recently, Karla received her Master's in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Karla oversees data analysis within the Admissions Office and serves as the QuestBridge Program and Undocumented Student Liaison. When she's not supporting Caltech's incoming classes, enjoys travel adventures and once backpacked for two months in Southeast Asia.
