Visit Campus
City of Pasadena
Located about 11 miles from downtown Los Angeles, Caltech is located at the base of the San Gabriel mountains in the tree-lined city of Pasadena where we enjoy about 300 days of sunshine. Pasadena, also known as the City of Roses, is medium-sized and the home to the Rose Bowl, museums, hiking trails, vast restaurants, shopping, and the annual Tournament of Roses parade.
Campus
Caltech is sprawled across 124-acres. How big is that? Small! Roughly, the size of one city block. Don't let our small size fool you: Students learn to be creative problem solvers as they pursue the most challenging problems in STEM while collaborating with faculty and peers in an interdisciplinary environment. If you're a prospective student who wants to get a feel for our playground for scientists, register for a visit.
Visit Options
Caltech's Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers an information session, led by an admissions officer and student-led tour for prospective students and their guest(s).
We publish our availability 1-3 months in advance. Check out our online calendar for availability.
Information Session and Campus Tours (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays)
A campus visit will include a one-hour information session and a campus tour.
The one-hour information session is led by an Admission Officer who will present on the essence of Caltech and the application requirements in the first thirty minutes. Following the presentation, there will be a Q & A session for you to ask your most pressing questions.
The student-led tour may last up to 60 minutes. During the student-led tour, you will learn about life in Pasadena, classes, research, and the extracurricular activities Techers enjoy most. Tours will not take guests into labs.
*Note: Information Sessions and Campus Tours will not be available in September as students will be on break.
Group Tours
We have discontinued our group tours programming for the remainder of the academic year. We aim to begin group tours again in fall (October) 2026 on a limited capacity and by request only. More information will follow during the summer of 2026.
