Kristi Newton Joins Development and Institute Relations
Kristi Newton has joined Caltech as the Institute's new assistant vice president of development, effective January 18.
Newton will manage all aspects of current gift fundraising, acting as "a development manager, strategist, and innovator," says Peter Hero, vice president for development and institute relations, to whom Newton will report.
"Kristi is an outgoing team player, deeply committed to our vision for our department and the Institute," Hero says.
Newton comes to Caltech from UCSB, where she was assistant dean of development in the College of Engineering and the Division of Math, Life and Physical Sciences, and where she helped design and build the university's first cross-college, interdisciplinary development team.
"Kristi leveraged limited resources to better create high-profile interdisciplinary efforts in both science and engineering," Hero notes, "which in turn more than doubled annual fundraising results."
Prior to her time at UCSB, Newton was senior division director at the American Heart Association.
