Noted Play The Vagina Monologues Returns to Caltech as Part of V-Day Celebration
Eve Ensler's acclaimed play about women's diverse life experiences, told in hilarious and heart-warming stories, has been hailed as a national stage sensation and lauded by theater critics across the country.
This is Caltech's third encore presentation of the play, performed by a diverse cast of Caltech students, faculty, postdoctoral scholars, staff, and alumnae.
This benefit performance is being held in support of V-Day, a project to raise awareness and funds globally for organizations that work to stop violence against women and girls. Caltech's observation of V-Day, through its community production of the play, will be a part of global antiviolence activities. To date, V-Day has raised over $30 million and has educated many about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it.
"This is an excellent opportunity for the Caltech community--women and men--to come together and take a stand against violence in all forms," says event co-organizer Sam Lawler.
All proceeds will benefit the Los Angeles Commission on Assaults Against Women.
Tickets are $5 for students (with ID) and $15 for all others, and can be purchased at 1(888) 2CALTECH, or see http://events.caltech.edu/events/event-3181.html for more information. ### Contact: Deborah Williams-Hedges (626) 395-3227 [email protected]
